Worried about a Student, Colleague, or Friend? Introducing Kognito
Posted over 1 year ago in Parent & Family NewsHealth, Wellness, & Safety.

We all know UMass Lowell is a caring community where everyone is always ready to help support each other, and we are happy to announce that UMass Lowell is now offering a great resource, Kognito, to help support the wellbeing of our River Hawk community.

Kognito is a dynamic, experiential, evidenced-based digital learning tool that uses role-play simulations and coaching to build skills in having real-life conversations that change lives. With Kognito, if your student has 30 to 60 minutes to spare, they can be well trained and confident that how they care is as effective as how much they care.

Kognito is an online, self-paced, interactive platform that teaches strategies and gives you an opportunity to practice potentially difficult conversations and scenarios. It will help your student create and hone skills to help them support their fellow River Hawks with confidence. No matter their concern, Kognito can help your student have challenging conversations with the confidence that they are providing the best support and resources possible.

Kognito, which has been in use for the past 20 years, is already offered at hundreds of educational institutions across the country. Kognito is designed to uniquely meet today’s mental health challenges, with positive change you can see. Schools and campuses using Kognito see statistically significant changes in knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behavior, as demonstrated by multiple empirical and longitudinal studies.

To use Kognito, students can go to uml.kognito.com and create an account using their UML e-mail address. To maintain anonymity, they should not enter their student ID number when prompted.
